John wrote about the first coming of Jesus that He came to his own, and his own didn’t receive Him. This is quite surprising for the following reasons:
- Numerous prophetic statements spoke about Him and His coming.
- All statements were about the good things which would take place when He come.
- Between the prophetic words written by Malachi and the birth of Jesus 400 years passed by... God was silent and distant, so to say. However darkness and dead religion ruled the territory but His agenda for His nation were unaltered.
- In His three years of public work He helped all and healed all.
Why then did His own not receive Him? Well it became even worse. They crucified Him.
Today we are certainly 'His own'.
Do we receive Him and His instruction? Do we receive the companions He has selected for us?
